Promoting your store
Where and how to promote an independent clip store: social platforms that allow adult content, your other pages, and what to post.
Promotion is a discovery problem
A store nobody sees sells nothing, however good the clips are. Promotion is the work of putting a watermarked preview and a link in front of people who are likely to want what you make. It is ongoing and it is unglamorous. Budget time for it the way you budget time for filming.
Platforms that allow adult content, and your own pages
Rules change and are enforced unevenly, so check the current policy of any platform before posting and read it yourself rather than relying on what other creators say.
- Bluesky currently allows adult content when it is labelled. You apply the appropriate self-label to posts with adult media, and viewers who have opted in see it. Label consistently; unlabelled adult posts are the fastest way to lose an account.
- X allows sensitive media when the account or post is flagged as such. Turn on the sensitive media setting, keep it on, and expect reach to be limited compared with non-adult accounts.
- Other platforms vary from tolerant to hostile. Mainstream platforms with strict rules can remove accounts without warning, and years of followers go with them.
Whatever you use, never rely on a single platform. Keep your own note of where your buyers came from and make sure your VestaVids store is the stable address everything points to.
If you have a VestaCreate or Sanctum page, link it with your VestaVids store so visitors to either can find the other. A VestaModels profile can link to your store as well. These links do not depend on a social platform's goodwill and they put the store in front of people who already follow your other work.
What to post
Post previews, not whole clips. A watermarked ten to twenty second excerpt, or one or two watermarked frames, with the title and a plain line about what the clip is. Include the link to the clip or to the store. Posting the full clip anywhere free teaches your audience that waiting is cheaper than buying.
Beyond release announcements, post things that give people a reason to follow: a frame from a session in progress, a note about a series, a photo that shows the person behind the store. Keep the ratio sensible; an account that is only sales links gets muted.
Reply to people who engage, within your limits. Followers who feel seen become buyers; buyers who feel seen become regulars.
What not to do
- Do not spam tags or post the same image repeatedly within a day.
- Do not post other people's content to fill gaps.
- Do not argue with people in public. Block and move on.
- Do not post anything you would not want permanently copied; assume everything public is.
Promotion is slow at first. Measured over months, steady posting with clear previews and a stable link does the work.
